The world of music is very big. Big enough to occupy the 7 billion people on earth. Maybe not, but its big enough to occupy the rising number and of artist jumping on beats daily to become famous.

If you’ve been releasing your songs with your own unique beats and it hasn’t been getting much acceptance as you hoped it would, most especially if you’re an independent artist and you don’t have enough capital to promote your songs, why not cover a popular song.

2015 was just like yesterday when British singer Adele released her Grammy award winning song titled HELLO which garnered up to 40,000 covers within 24 hours. That much cover in just a short period of time shows how amazing the song is. It was covered in almost every part of the world, some people still covered a year and some two years later. My point isn’t to tell you how much of a talent Adele is, but how covering her songs have helped some underground singers in gaining attention.

Sabrina Carpenter was known by few people until she covered Adele’s song and it became a hit on YouTube which skyrocketed her popularity. Which is the first reason why you should make a cover song.

Whether you’re a new artist, or you’ve been singing but it seems like you’re not good at it. Covering songs helps the creative process of rhythms, melody and lyrics. It makes it easier for you to find the right voice to use for the track, unlike being the sole creator of the whole music production, covering songs goes a long way in easing the stress of finding the right lyrics that best goes with the beat, and since song writing or any creative work can’t be rushed or else it comes out with glitches covering songs does the trick.

To personalize this article, there is an artist I love so much I have all the music he’s ever sang both professional and as a kid on my device. I was locked on a channel sometime in 2015 when the channel brought to my viewing pleasure a video of an upcoming artist who covered one of my favorite artist songs. I instantly became a fan of the artist too not because it came out almost as beautiful as the original, but because he covered it in the first place. Covering songs gets you a new fan base. You can find a beautiful song by a popular artist that hasn’t been covered much or at all and lay your voice on it. You can imagine millions of fans listening to it and instantly becoming your fan. That will no doubt help your career hugely.

If you’re the type that cares about license and rights on a songs, then you shouldn’t worry so much. Covering songs comes easy today, with little to no stress. You can cover a song and tag the owner on social media just for people to view it, and the owner of the song might repost if he/she loves it.

If you need more time to spend doing other things rather than music, then you should consider making a cover song. You would consume lesser amount of time in covering a song than in trying to make yours. You could spend months just to make one song and spend as little as 10 minutes to cover a song. The only time it might take you is if you want to change the lyrics entirely and make it yours.

Putting your own sauce in another artist music  help sharpen your skills and make inspiration flow easier than they used to and with listeners from around the globe it might be all you need to become famous.

Emmanuel M, a lecturer in singing said, “Cover songs can be a blast. It’s a great way to rev up your crowd, and gives you the opportunity to show off your skills and make the song your own”.

The reason given above should be enough to convince you to make a cover song today, who knows where it might land you. It could be next to your favorite track on the billboard chart top 100. Cover a song today and let the world experience your talent.
